How To Make Bead Necklace : Hazy Lazy Lariat

To make:-

1. Hold one end of each of the cords together and slide them into a coil (from the end without the loop), as far as they will go. Use chain nosed pliers to squash the last ring of coil onto the cords.

2. Tie an overhand knot about 5 cm along the turquoise cord, thread on a button disc right up to the knot and then tie another knot right next to it. N.B. The cord does fit through the button discs, but the end of it may need trimming often to help get it through easily - the amount of cord specified allows for this trimming. Tie a knot in the red cord which will lie about 1-2cm further on from the last knot tied in the turquoise. Thread on a turquoise round right up to the knot and then tie another knot next to it.

3. Hold the cords together and overhand knot them together about 5cm from the last knot in the red cord. Before pulling the knot tight, open a jump ring and slip it into the knot then close it again.

4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 ten more times, but omitting the last knot with a jump ring.

5. Hold the cords together and trim so that there is about 5cm left after the last knot in the red cord, then push into the remaining coil and finish as in step 1.

6. Thread a button disc and a turquoise round onto an eye pin, then use chain nosed pliers to bend the pin over by 90 degrees and trim to 7mm with the side cutters. Grip the tip of the pin with round nosed pliers and roll to form a loop, but before fully closing, hook the pin into the loop on one of the coils. Repeat, adding this one to the other end of the lariat.

7. Make 36 dangles of a xilion on a headpin, using the method in step 6, but ensuring the loops are fully closed. Slightly open the jump rings along the lariat and add three dangles to each one, then reclose the jumps as you work. Open the two unused jumps and slip three dangles onto each then hook one of the jumps onto each of the eye pins hanging from the coils and re-close.
