How To Make Bead Bracelet : Kalahari Wrap Bracelet

To make:-

1. Thread the thong through one hole of the button, letting it fall to the centre and then passing the end coming out of the right side of the button back through it towards the wrong side. Hold both the strands together and tie an overhand knot in them, pushing it up close to the button. Cut the monofilament into two equal pieces, reserving one of them for later and working with the other.

2. Thread one of the holes on a Tila onto the thread and let it fall to the centre. Below the button, separate the two thong strands and place the Tila between them, with the left thread lying under the left thong and the right thread lying over the right thong.

3. Pass the right thread around and under the right thong, then through the second hole of the Tila and then over the left thong. Pass the original left thread around and over the left thong, through the second hole of the Tila ( in the opposite direction to the last thread through it) and then under the right thong.

4. Pass the left thread under the left thong and through the first hole on another Tila then over the right thong. Pass it under the thong then through the second hole of the Tila and over the left thong. Take the right thread and pass it round and under the right thong, through the first hole in the Tila (working in the opposite direction to the first thread), over, round and back under the left thong and then through the second hole in the Tila and over the right thong.

5. Repeat step 4 as you add 88 more Tilas, adjusting the tension as you go so that the beads are evenly spaced (about 1-2mm apart) and the slack in the monofilament is taken up. Check for length (it should wrap around your wrist three times including the button and the loop, which measures about 1.5cm) and add more beads if needed.

6. As you near the end of the piece of thread, knot each strand to it's appropriate strand of thong a couple of times and then thread it back through a couple of the Tila bead holes and trim. Use the second piece of monofilament to continue working in the same manner, anchoring it to the exisitng work by passing it though the last hole of the last Tila, or through the knotted thread if preferred.

7. Check the length of the bracelet as you near the end of the beads so as it will fit comfortably three times around your wrist. You may need to leave a few beads off if it is big enough before you've used them all. Finish the threads off as in step 6 and trim the ends.

8. Tie the two strands of thong together using a reef knot) right over left and through, left over right and through), arranging it so as to lie flat.

9. Holding the two strands together, tie an overhand knot in them, positioning it 1.5 - 2cm away from the reef knot. Separate the thongs, and tie an over hand knot in each one, to lie 2cm and 3 cm away from the last knot. Trim each end 1cm away from the last knot, with a diagonal cut.
