How To Make Necklace : Starry Night

To make:-

1. Opening and closing jump rings as necessary and making sure all the moons are facing forward as you work, slip a ring onto the right hand loop of a moon (1) and another closed jump ring. Close the ring. Slip an open ring onto the closed ring and the left hand loop on another moon (2). Close the ring. Continue working in this way until five moons have been connected.

2. Lay out the string of moons, right side up. Slip an open ring onto the bottom loop of the far left hand moon (1) and a closed ring. Close the ring. Slip an open ring onto the closed ring and the left hand loop of another moon (6). Close the ring.

3. Slip an open ring onto the right loop of moon 6 and a closed ring. Close the ring. Slip an open ring on the bottom loop of moon 2 and the closed ring just attached. Close the ring. Slip an open ring onto the left hand loop of another moon (7) and the closed ring just attached. Close the ring.

4. Continue working in this manner until a row of four moons has been connected underneath the original row of five moons. Connect a row of three moons underneath the row of four moons, and a row of two moons underneath the row of three moons. Finally connect one moon underneath the row of two moons.

5. Slip a jump ring onto the three Jet drops, four of the Siam drops and three of the Fern Green Xilion pendants. Attach one dangle to the centre jump rings of the connected moons in the following order, working top to bottom and left to right. Top row – Siam, Jet, Jet, Siam. Second row – Siam, Fern Green, Siam. Third row – Fern Green, Fern Green. Fourth row – Jet.

6. Attach the pendant mount to the star pendant by bending it into a U-shape and pass the prong through the hole in the star then through the hole in the mount. Bend prong upwards to secure. Slip a jump onto the loop on the mount and through the loop on the bottom of the bottom moon, ensuring that the front of the mount is facing the same way up as the front of the moons.

7. Pass an eyepin through a star bead. Bend the pin over by 90 degrees using flat nosed pliers, trim to 7mm using sidecutter pliers and roll into a loop using round nosed pliers, slipping on the loop of a star connector before fully closing.

8. Cut the head off a headpin using sidecutter pliers. Grip the pin with round nosed pliers 20mm from the end. Bend pin away from you by 90 degrees. Rotate the pliers away from you by 90 degrees. Pull the pin back over the top jaws of the pliers to form the first part of a loop. Rotate the pliers back towards you and push the wire back away from you to finish the loop.

9. Slip the loop through the remaining loop on the star connector. Grip the pin loop with round nosed pliers and the end of the pin with chain nosed pliers. Wrap the tail around the pin a couple of times. Trim excess and tuck the sharp end in with chain nosed pliers.

10. Slip an 8mm Xilion onto the pin, and make another wrapped loop, slipping the loop onto the loop of another star connector before fully wrapping. Continue working like this, adding an 8mm round to the star connector, then a star, an 8mm Xilion, a star, an 8 mm round, and another star, wrapping the loops as before.

11. Cut two 15cm lengths of rattail. Lay an end in the u-shape of an end fastener, positioning the loop away from the end of the rattail. Fold over each side of the fastener using flat nosed pliers to grip the rattail. Repeat with the other end fasteners on the remaining ends.

12. Cut two 59 link lengths of medium curb chain and two 43 link lengths of extension chain. Open a jump ring and slip it onto the left hand loop of moon (1), along with the loop of one of the end fasteners, the eye pin loop of the star bead, the last link of one of the extension chains and the last link of one of the medium curb chain lengths. Close jump.

13. Wind the other ends of these four strands onto one of the split rings along with the loop on one of the toggle ends.

14. Complete the other side of the necklace to match, attaching the jump to the right hand loop of moon (5) and winding the loop of the remaining toggle end onto the split ring.
